Randy Couture started his career in the professional fighting arena, as an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter. He has a black belt in Carlson Gracie Jiu-jitsu and has won the UFC Heavyweight championship belt twice. Couture first started in the wrestling arena having won State Championship at High School and then made the Olympic Team in 1988, 1992 and 1996. He was also a three time NCAA All American in Division I at Oklahoma State University.

Couture’s career started in 1997, where he made his debut in the MMA ring, with his first fight being against Tony Halme, who was also known as Ludvig Borga, from WWF fame. Couture went on to win the fight in less than one minute, even though Halme was 100 pounds heavier. His second opponent that night, Steven Graham, was also about 100 pounds heavier than he was, but this did not stop Couture from winning the fight only 3 minutes 13 seconds into the fight with a TKO (technical knockout).

Five months later he made another UFC appearance when he fought 19 year Vitor Belfort for the heavyweight fight. Belfort was the favorite to go on to fight for the belt, but Couture had other plans in mind. Both fighters put on a magnificent performance but Belfort could not keep up after the 7 minute mark and Couture took this to his advantage. The crowd was devastated that the underdog won the match, but Couture went on to fight for the UFC heavyweight championship against Maurice Smith.

On December 21, 1997 Randy Couture fought for the heavyweight title in Japan. The fight lasted 21 minutes, but after several takedowns and maintaining positional control throughout the fight Couture went on to be the UFC heavyweight champion, a title he lost not more than a year later, only to regain it on November 17, 2000, when he took it away from heavyweight champion of the time, Kevin Randleman.

While holding up a professional fighting career Randy Couture also held his own in the film industry alongside actors like Jet Li, Mark Wahlberg, Greg Kinnear, Dennis Haysbert, Anthony Anderson, David Carradine, Sylvester Stallone and many more.

Randy Couture started his acting career in 2003 and landed the role as Fighter number 8 in the hit action movie Cradle To The Grave, which starred Jet Li and rap star DMX. In 2006 he landed the role in the hit TV sitcom The King of Queens and guest starred as Priority Plus Driver next to Kevin James in the episode named Fight Schlub.

Now a retired fighter Randy Couture is looking to ignite his career as an actor and got that opportunity in the big budget blockbuster action movie The Expendables in 2010 where he played the part of Toll Road next to major action stars, including Jet Li, Sylvester Stallone, Eric Roberts, Steve Austin and Jason Statham, among others.
